Air Products (NYSE: APD), a pioneer and global leader in oxy-fuel combustion technology for the glass industry, will highlight the company’s latest innovation in oxy-fuel combustion technology – the new Cleanfire® HRx™ burner – at China Glass 2019 from May 22-25 in Beijing, China.

With expanded functionality and flexibility, the patent-pending Cleanfire HRx burner enables glass manufacturers to control both the magnitude and location of oxygen staging up to 95% of the combustion oxygen, resulting in higher fuel efficiency, ultra-low NOx (nitrogen oxides) emissions, enhanced productivity, and reduced foam for higher quality glass production. The new burner comes with the latest staging combustion technology, which can further reduce NOx emissions by 40% compared to the last generation. It can be used as a boost burner to complement the operation of an air-fuel furnace or in a full oxy-fuel furnace.

In addition to the new innovative burner, Air Products will also showcase the company’s integrated oxy-fuel solution at its booth themed “Green Production for Quality Glass.” Air Products’ integrated oxy-fuel solution includes high quality gases and flexible supply options, a complete range of market-leading state-of-the art Cleanfire burners, customized control systems, and comprehensive technical support. As one of the most influential glass industry trade shows in Asia, China Glass has more than 800 exhibitors and over 30,000 visitors around the world.

“As environmental regulations are becoming increasingly stringent, China glass manufacturers need more sustainable and competitive solutions to make their manufacturing process more productive, delivering higher quality glass, as well as meeting government regulatory requirements. The new Cleanfire HRx burner is an ideal technology that can help them further improve environmental performance and stay ahead of the competition,” said Brandon Fu, vice president, Asia Strategy, Marketing and Technology, at Air Products.

Air Products has over 40 years of experience in oxy-fuel technology and has already installed more than 1,500 Cleanfire burners around the world. Compared to air-fuel technology, oxy-fuel technology is proven to bring multiple benefits, such as over 80% reduction in NOx emissions, 10-35% energy savings, about 25% increase in productivity, and improved energy efficiency and glass quality. Air Products operates a Combustion Laboratory in its Asia Technology Center in Shanghai, China to serve customers in the Asia region. The laboratory provides computational modeling services for customers’ combustion systems by collaborating with its Advanced Clean Energy Laboratory in the U.S.
