Black Liquor Oxidation has two main purposes, one is economical
(diminish sulfur loss that occurs during the multiple effect
evaporation), and the other is environmental (diminish air
emission of compounds that results in intense odor sensation
- TRS).
It the process of transforming the sodium sulfide present
in the liquor into sodium thiosulfate, as per the equation:
