Alkaline extraction strengthened with Oxygen (Eo) is a well-known
resource and used for Kraft pulp bleaching. Consists in the
addition of Oxygen during the alkaline extraction stage, with
the main purpose of increase the removal of the pulp's remaining
lignin.
Oxidative Extraction (Eo)
The main benefits from the Oxidative Extraction
(Eo) are:
Less consumption of oxidative products such as
chorine, chloride dioxide, ozone and hydrogen peroxide during
the bleaching process, resulting in a smaller lignin content
after the Eo stage;
Reduction of bleaching environmental impact through
the smaller generation of chlorinated organic compounds (AOX)
and lower color level of effluents;
Attaining of higher and more stable level of bleaching,
without loss of any physical-mechanical quality;
